Worry beads or komboloi, is a string of beads manipulated with one or two
hands and used to pass time in Greek culture. Unlike the similar prayer beads
used in many religious traditions, worry beads have no religious or ceremonial
purpose.

Worry beads have several uses in Greek culture, including :

1. relaxation, enjoyment, and generally passing the time,
2. as an amulet, to guard against bad luck
3. used by people who wish to limit smoking
4. as a mark of power and social prestige. This is especially true in the case
of expensive worry beads made of silver or amber.

Spiral

The spiral as a symbol is found all over the world and has meanings in many
different cultures and belief systems. For the ancient Minoans of Knossos,
(Greece), the spiral was a symbol of infinity–it just kept going! It is a
symbol of constant motion, of balance, and of awareness.
The spiral is also a great Ancient Greek symbol of Life, Time and Eternity.

Meander

Meander symbolizes as well the bonds of friendship, of love and devotion and
that’s the reason it’s often given as marriage gift.
The meander motif took its name from the river Meander, a river with many
twists, mentioned by Homer in Iliad. The motif is also known as Greek key.

Meander was the most important symbol in Ancient Greece, symbolizing infinity
or the eternal flow of things. Many temples and objects were decorated with
this motif, and it is considered that there is a connection with the Cretan
labyrinth.
